After sealing the arrival of Tom Heaton, and with Jadon Sancho set to join after completing a medical, sights have been set on a defender by Manchester United. The club has been heavily linked with a handful of options but with none more frequently than Raphael Varane.
The 28-year-old is currently on vacation after France’s shock exit from this summer’s European Championship but questions remain over his future. Varane is yet to extend his contract at Real Madrid, which expires in less than a year.
There have been plenty of conflicting reports surrounding the Frenchman’s future but according to Rodrigo Faez, ESPN journalist, Manchester United is in talks with Varane after he rejected a contract proposal from Real Madrid.
Up to date, Real Madrid offered him a renewal contract offer that he has rejected. He is in talks with United. The deal should be closed around 50m€ in the next two weeks. Let’s see how it ends up…

Faez even goes as far as to say that a deal ‘should be closed’ for around €50m within two weeks, which is music to Manchester United supporters’ ears after several years of late transfer mishaps.
Stretty News understands that Manchester United are working on bringing Varane to Old Trafford, with Paul Pogba remaining in plans for the upcoming season.
