Manchester United’s hierarchy is thought to be closing in on signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. However, according to recent reports, the French World Cup winner may not be the only defensive arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
That’s according to MEN, who claims the French defender is high up on the Red Devils’ summer short-list.
However, following the recent announcement that the club has finally reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for winger Jadon Sancho, United already look to be closing in on their second signing.
In light of France crashing out of this summer’s Euros at the last 16 stage thanks to a Switzerland penalty shootout victory, it is rumoured that talks for Varane are now progressing.
However, although it was originally predicted the Red Devils would make just one centre-back signing, MEN now claim the club are targeting a second – Villarreal’s Pau Torres.
Although also linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, most fans expected the club to sign one or the other, not both, however, should MEN’s recent reports be anything to go by, that prospect has now become a reality.
