Manchester United have made contact with Leon Goretzka’s representatives, according to reports. The midfielder is a mainstay for both club and country in midfield and is now attracting the interest of Europe’s leading clubs.
Goretzka, who has just one year remaining on his contract, has now emerged as a transfer target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in a bid to bolster his midfield.
That’s according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims that Manchester United have called Goretzka’s management in the last few days.
Update #Goretzka: The bosses of #MUFC told his management in the phone call that they want to replace @paulpogba. He will probably leave the club. But next to @ManUtd there are other clubs from 🏴 interested in him. Next to #Barca and #RealMadrid. @SPORT1 https://t.co/Ej4io0Mjtz

Plettenberg claims that Manchester United have told the player’s representatives that Goretzka is seen as Paul Pogba’s replacement, who is reportedly likely to leave the club this summer. Other clubs from England, as well as Real Madrid and Barcelona, are also said to be interested in the 26-year-old.
However, in a blow to Solskjaer’s hopes, Goretzka wants to extend his contract beyond the 12 months remaining, according to Plettenberg.
