AC Milan close to agreement for Manchester United defender

AC Milan are nearing an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Diogo Dalot, according to reports. The 22-year-old spent the 2020/21 season on loan with the Rossoneri and could now be set for an extended stay.

That’s according to Sky Italia, who say that an agreement is close with only a final push from both clubs needed to complete the deal.

Details over the length of a loan, or if it’s permanent, are unspecified in the report but Manchester United are unlikely to agree to another season-long loan without guarantees. Therefore, it’s plausible that the Old Trafford hierarchy would accept a season-long loan with an obligation to buy next year.

If reports are to be believed, it would leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with just one right-back, having lost Timothy Fosu-Mensah to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this year.

The club had earlier been in talks with Atletico Madrid over Kieran Trippier, but talks between the two sides are believed to have been put on hold.
