Growing doubts about whether Manchester United can afford Jadon Sancho

The leaks are clearly coming out of Borussia Dortmund.

With the Bundesliga club more than willing to part ways with Jadon Sancho, wanting to hurry the replacement process, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that their approach is becoming more aggressive.

Former Premier League player turned Twitter sensation, Jan Aage Fjortoft, has dropped a claim that there has been no activity since Manchester United’s first offer for the player — seemingly dismissing claims from Sky Sports that there was an improved offer just days ago.

Fjortoft adds that United know how much Dortmund want, but the feeling in Germany is concern over whether United can finance the deal.

As someone who has also covered the story, I personally wouldn’t share the same sense of panic about whether the deal will happen or not, as United are still actively pursuing the transfer.

Have we completely forgotten Sancho is currently away at Euro 2020? And most deals this summer will be concluded after the tournament ends.

It seems to me that BVB are pushing the boat out because they want to sign a replacement for Sancho. The problem for United is they are not going to get a cheaper deal than what Dortmund are demanding.

Surely time to go get Ole’s man?

  1. We know Jadon Sancho is with the English team at WEMBLEY for the Euro2020 championships, but surely negotiations can be conducted with Dortmund and get the deal done in double quick time. Other player transfers like for Pau Torres and Raphael Varane can be done later after the Euro2020 ends, as they are foreign stars playing for their countries in other locations.
