Manchester United have been left sweating after it was revealed that their city rivals have made a nine-figure bid for one of their targets. Harry Kane is a longstanding target for the club but the 27-year-old is now the subject of a bid from Pep Guardiola’s side.
Kane has been a target for Manchester United for several years but interest has been reborn after the striker told his club he was looking to leave this summer, with Tottenham then demanding astronomical fees to let him go.
According to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have presented a bid for the striker and have also offered Daniel Levy’s club the opportunity to sign one of their players as part of the deal.
Official bid already sent from Manchester City for Harry Kane. 🚨
– £100M guaranteed as fee.
– #MCFC available to include players in the deal.
– Sterling, Laporte, Gabriel Jesus among the names.
– #THFC have NO intention to accept this bid.
– Nothing decided during the Euros. https://t.co/AYint8nAQD— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 21, 2021
Manchester United are unlikely to match the bid, with an effort to sign Jadon Sancho for a similar amount very much underway. The club is locked in negotiations with Dortmund as they attempt to reach an agreement over a fee.
Solskjaer has always remained an admirer of Kane, but Cavani’s one-year extension earlier this year likely means that the search for a striker has been put on hold until 2022.
