Atlético Madrid have rejected a bid from Manchester United for star defender Kieran Trippier, according to new reports. Ole Gunnar Solskjær is said to be a big fan of the right-back and wants to bring the former Manchester City and Tottenham player to Old Trafford.

It was revealed earlier this month that Manchester United were interested in a move for Trippier, but with two years remaining on his current deal in Spain, conducting a move back to England might prove to be difficult.

According to Football Insider, the Madrid club have rejected an opening bid from United. The outlet claims that a formal approach has been made for the defender, but their interest has been rebuffed from Diego Simeone’s side.

The initial offer is believed to have been £10m, but United will need to increase their bid in order to secure a deal this summer.

Trippier was included in England’s final 26-man Euro 2020 squad and is unlikely to make a move during the tournament, prompting beliefs that an agreement might have to be put on hold until after the Three Lions play their last game.

According to The Athletic, Trippier has been looking for properties in Manchester ahead of a potential move.
