Manchester United could be facing late competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea in their chase of Jadon Sancho, according to new reports. United are seen as the clear frontrunners for his signature but Chelsea and Liverpool have both been linked with a move.

Free-spending Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the situation and could be ready to hijack any deal between Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.

United and Dortmund are locked in negotiations for the transfer, with the only remaining detail to agree on believed to be structure of payments. The Old Trafford club are reported to be comfortably in front of the queue but could be forced to fend off their Premier League rivals.

According to Anfield Central (via The Express), the London club are ‘stalling’ on their decision to challenge United for a deal. Thomas Tuchel initiated Dortmund’s interest in Sancho in 2017 and is now mulling over whether to commit a large sum of their transfer budget on Sancho.

Liverpool are also said to be keeping tabs on proceedings but are unlikely to make a formal attempt before player sales.

Manchester United will want to have the deal wrapped up as soon as possible and avoid speculation throughout the European Championships, when England are unlikely to sanction players to have talks over moves.
