Edinson Cavani has been a revelation for Manchester United this season and rubbishing talks of a ‘panic signing’ in the process. The Uruguayan scored 17 goals and assisted a further 6 in a season where he won Manchester United’s last two Player of the Month awards.
Coming in with doubts surrounding his fitness and ability to keep up with the pace of the Premier League, there were suggestions that United had made the signing in state of panic when they couldn’t get their first-choice targets.
But after a slow start, Cavani grew into his own and dragged United towards the finish line when others had slowed down. His efforts also earned him a new one-year contract, fending off interest from Boca Juniors who had tempted him with a move closer to home.

Stand-out moments include a ten out of ten substitute appearance at Southampton early in the season, a wonderful diving header to seal José Mourinho’s fate at Tottenham and two two-goal hauls against Roma to book United’s place in the Europa League final.
But he saved the best til’ last, scoring a 35-yard chip against Fulham in front of 10,000 fans, the first time supporters had been in attendance at Old Trafford since March 2020. Watch the goals in all their glory above.
