Edinson Cavani voted Player of the Month for second successive time

Edinson Cavani’s late-season surge has seen him win Manchester United’s player of the month award for the second successive month. The Uruguayan has impressed in his debut season, scoring 17 goals in total – five of them in United’s final month of the season.

The Uruguay international impressed in May, scoring twice against Roma, another two in the Premier League before scoring his 17th of the season in the Europa League final.

Mason Greenwood and Scott McTominay were also nominated for this months award but were beaten to it by Cavani, who joins Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw in winning it two months in a row, as per ManUtd.com.

After doubts over his future, Cavani rebuffed interest from Boca Juniors to sign a new one-year contract at Old Trafford. Solskjær will have been welcoming the news, having publicly declared his desire for the the striker to remain a United player next season.

With the club season over, Cavani will join up with his national side in their preparations for this summers Copa America.

The 35-year-old was not initially called up to their warm-up games due to suspension but he is expected to join later.
