Manchester United preparing £40m Raphael Varane bid – report

We brought you the latest on Manchester United’s pursuit of Raphael Varane in the recent Stretty’s transfer roundup, before the mainstream press ran the story for themselves.

However, The Mirror have gone a step bigger with claims of a bid being prepared for the Real Madrid centre-back. David McDonnell reports United are set to make a £40m offer for Varane this summer.

The Reds have a list of defensive targets ahead of the transfer window and Stretty News understands Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like the Frenchman to partner Harry Maguire at the back next season.

Varane has one year left on his contract and getting him for £40m would be an absolute steal!

In the past week Maguire’s value to United has been underlined more than ever before, with Solskjaer’s men conceding six goals in his enforced absence. He doesn’t miss many games and that’s one of his strong points.

Real Madrid appear to be in a mess right now, even though they could still win La Liga. Is it really a club he wants to spend the rest of his career at?

Time will tell.
