Preview: Manchester United vs Liverpool – Keep the momentum going

Manchester United will be looking to make it two wins in a row when they face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a terrific 6-2 victory over Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night, whilst the visitors drew 1-1 with Newcastle United at Anfield last weekend.

Dean Henderson is widely expected to return in between the sticks to face Liverpool and Edinson Cavani is should also start following his brace against Roma.

With Champions League football all but secure for next season, and with one foot in the Europa League final, things have started to look a lot rosier for Manchester United in recent weeks and in facing arch rivals Liverpool on Sunday it provides Solskjaer another opportunity to keep the momentum going.

Liverpool are not the same side this season. Having won the league at a canter last season, they do not hold the same threat this time around and are currently sitting in sixth place. There’s no denying United go into this as the favourites.

Going forward Liverpool remain dangerous with Salah, Mane and the likes but defensively without Virgil Van Dijk leading from the back they are not the same. Solskjaer will no doubt look to exploit that on Sunday with Rashford, Cavani, Fernandes and co all in fine form of late.

Victory over Liverpool would not only secure Champions League football for next season, but it would all but secure second place for the Reds. Let’s keep moving forward.
