Paul Scholes gave a hilariously understated response when reminded it was the 13th anniversary of one of the most special European nights at Old Trafford.
As noted in BT Sport’s pre-match coverage of United’s Europa League semi-final against Roma, it’s 13 years since the day Scholes scored a screamer against Barcelona to send the Reds through to the final against Chelsea in Moscow.
Scholes was the match-winner against the Barcelona side considered the greatest of its generation, and it was a spectacular strike.
But the United legend was humble when asked by presenter Jake Humphrey about the goal, stating that it was just a ‘miskick’ and that he didn’t mean to hit the ball as he did.
Scholes struck across the ball and it flew beyond a helpless Victor Valdes into the top corner.
But the former midfielder branded the goal ‘lucky’ and the contact wasn’t his initial intention.

"Oh! That miskick!"
"Scholsey you meant that, didn't you?"
"No."
