Roy Keane laid into Fred despite his equalising goal in Manchester United’s comeback win over Tottenham.
The Brazil international was quickest to react when Hugo Lloris palmed out Edinson Cavani’s effort on goal.
However, Keane joked that his goal was a saving grace because he was left unimpressed by Fred’s overall performance.
He said on Sky Sports (via the Mirror): “Just as well Fred scored, I thought he was dreadful. I don’t know what people are talking about saying he played well.
“But again good link-up play from United, which is what they are good at. One-two in and around the box, poor defending from Tottenham and Fred on the spot.
“I thought he was even going to miss that, but lovely play.”
United scored two more goals against Spurs – with Cavani and Mason Greenwood both getting on the scoresheet.
Jose Mourinho’s side really struggled to handle our attacking players and we should be seeing that more often against lesser teams.
That said, it took United 45 minutes to really find their groove. We were much better in the second half and did enough to turn the game on its head.
Fred will be hoping he is selected for the XI to face Granada in the second leg of United’s Europa League quarter-final, after winning the first leg 2-0 in Spain.
