Manchester United fans believe David de Gea is likely to be sold this summer after a huge indication Dean Henderson has usurped the Spaniard as the club’s number one goalkeeper.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opted to retain Henderson in goal as United return to Premier League action against Brighton and Hove Albion on Easter Sunday evening.
Henderson started United’s last six games before the international break, with several coming in the absence of De Gea who was on paternity leave in Spain.
The 24-year-old has looked accomplished between the sticks and his inclusion again proves he is now favoured to De Gea as Solskjaer’s first-choice.
The England international has been persistent pushing De Gea for his no.1 role throughout the season and his time may finally have come as we enter a defining period of the campaign.
De Gea has been an outstanding goalkeeper over a decade for United and was the world’s best shot-stopper for an extended period.
However, since Henderson’s return from his two successful loans at Sheffield United, a changing of the guard has appeared inevitable.
De Gea remains an elite ‘keeper and questions will be asked of his future if he continues to deputise for Henderson.
Many United supporters on social media believe this is the beginning of the end of club great De Gea’s time at Old Trafford.
My only fear is having to see De Gea leave United in an empty stadium. Absolute legend in every aspect.

Performing well and not throwing a hissy fit even after that Madrid move failed speaks volumes about him! Whatever happens this summer, @D_DeGea you will be my Numero Uno of the decade! 🔥 https://t.co/0ImstLQbLn pic.twitter.com/tleMRqmERI

My opinion on Hendo/De Gea
It's clear that David has some years left but let's be serious. Both won't stay on the bench. Henderson is young and make our defence much more solid, mainly because his better aerial presence. If we sell Deano we should buy a new goallie next 3 years

Henderson starting today is Ole showing that he can transition a player in/out in the right fashion using a way which doesn't cause disrespect or benching without reason (De Gea left for his childs birth). United of recent years have had issues in holding onto players to long.

Giving Henderson the nod is the right decision. De Gea has been amazing, but teams know and exploit his weakness and his strengths haven’t been as strong this year.

DDG has been a great player for United, and I have sang his name as loud as anyone on here, but sentiment has no place in football.
Henderson is edging in front now.
He is younger, better on the ball and costs less money.
The club has to get the wage structure under control. https://t.co/0ogK0I6oje— Devils Advocate (@MRed78) April 4, 2021
