Video: Marcus Rashford praised by Man United fans for brilliant off-the-ball moment vs Man City

Marcus Rashford earned huge plaudits from Manchester United fans for his defensive desire in the derby victory over Manchester City.

The England international was part of the side that secured United’s third straight victory at the Etihad Stadium and ended City’s winning run of 21 games.

Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw shocked the champions-elect and there were several memorable moments for United supporters.

But one piece of play that caught the eye was the determination and speed of Rashford to track back with City making a promising break through Riyad Mahrez.

Rashford showed rapid pace and encapsulated United’s work rate off-the-ball to effectively stop the attack at source.

Solskjaer was asked about the injury in his post-match press conference after the victory at the Etihad.

“I don’t know, it’s something with his ankle,” the United boss said, as quoted by the Independent’s Mark Critchley.

“When he sprinted 70 yards to save a goal, it showed the attitude of the boy. I think he went over on his ankle but we need to do a scan, I’ve not had time to speak to the doctor yet.”
