Bruno Fernandes overtakes Harry Kane for impressive Premier League record with Manchester derby goal

Bruno Fernandes’ early penalty in the Manchester derby means he now has more goal involvements than any other player in the Premier League this season.

United lead City at the Etihad at half-time after Fernandes netted his 16th league goal of the season inside two minutes.

City striker Gabriel Jesus foolishly took down Anthony Martial in the box and Fernandes’ well-struck penalty was too much for Ederson despite the Brazilian goalkeeper guessing the right way.

Fernandes has been criticised for not producing in the big moments against the ‘Big Six’ teams this season but has scored an important goal against Pep Guardiola’s runaway league leaders.

As per ESPN, his strike against City now means Fernandes has overtaken Tottenham striker Harry Kane as the player with the most league goal involvements in this campaign.

The totemic Portuguese playmaker has 16 goals and ten assists this season, compared to Kane’s 14 goals and 11 assists.

Fernandes is just one goal behind Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden boot.

Current score: Manchester City 0-1 Manchester United
