David de Gea
Excellent save denied Ziyech. Awful distribution was not punished by hasty Giroud but the Spaniard was otherwise flawless. 8
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Too predictable in attack but did most of his defensive work diligently. 6
Harry Maguire
United took a risk in playing a high line in the first-half but Maguire was positive and led by example. 7
Victor Lindelof
Outstanding clearance prevented Werner from scoring late on. He switched off to allow Giroud a free run in the first-half but otherwise he defended well. 7
Luke Shaw
United’s best outfield player. Reached the byline on more than one occasion and made a crucial block after De Gea’s superb save. 8
Scott McTominay
Direct and positive in possession but quality let him down as he missed chance to play through teammate in final stages. 6
Fred
What a moment it would have been for the Brazilian had his right-footed curling effort crept in. Tireless performance and provided good protection for back four. 7
Bruno Fernandes
Final delivery was uncharacteristically disappointing, particularly on the counter and United suffered as a result. 5
Daniel James
Worked hard at both ends and pace proved a threat on the break. Played a key role in United’s high press. 6
Mason Greenwood
Best moment came when he fired just wide after lovely interplay with James. Improved in second-half but couldn’t have decisive impact. 6
Marcus Rashford
Perhaps should have been hooked instead of Greenwood, who was looking more threatening. Rashford had little impact on the left. 5
Substitutes
Anthony Martial
Could not impact the game upon his arrival. 6
