Manchester United fans have rejoiced at the news that supporters could be allowed to return to stadiums before the end of this season.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced plans on Monday to allow fans back into stadiums in a four-part plan to lift lockdown restrictions.

As per the BBC, the government will run a number of test events in April and if they are successful, 10,000 people will be able to attend sporting events at large outdoor venues, or 25% of total seated capacity, whichever is lower.

This means supporters will return to stadiums for the last week of the Premier League season.

United’s final game is away to Wolves meaning it is unlikely home fans will be able to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side until next season.

But Reds on social media are delighted at the plans that will finally allow them to return to Old Trafford for the first time since March 8 2020.

United defeated rivals Manchester City 2-0 in front of a full stadium and fans will look to generate a similar special atmosphere to that when they are able to connect with Solskjaer’s side once again.
