Bruno Fernandes has been named Europa League Player of the Week after scoring two goals against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

The official Europa League account on Twitter (@EuropaLeague) shared a video showing their top four performing players in the tournament, with the United midfielder ranked first.

In fourth place comes Tottenham’s Gareth Bale who scored against Wolfsberg, while Bruno Petkovic of Dinamo Zagreb comes third. That leaves us with Munas Dabbur of Hoffenheim is runner-up to Fernandes.

It’s not going to be enough to keep Fernandes happy because he will be aiming to win a trophy with United this season. Why not the Europa League?

Winning the Europa League brought great joy in 2017 and United’s travelling fans enjoyed some brilliant trips. That’s the biggest blow about this season and it’s not exclusive to the Europa League.

We are placed nicely to progress after beating Real Sociedad 4-0.

The Spanish press were impressed by Fernandes, too.
