Video: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates Daniel James performance after rare start vs Real Sociedad

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reiterated that Daniel James has always been in his Manchester United plans after his goalscoring impact against Real Sociedad.

James impressed in only his sixth United start of the season and netted the fourth goal in the dying seconds to all but end the Europa League round-of-32 tie as a contest.

The Welshman has had limited game time this season but was effective as he capitalised on La Real’s defensive woes in Turin this evening.

James also inadvertently assisted Bruno Fernandes for the Portuguese playmaker’s second goal and drew praise from his manager in the post-match press conference.

Solskjaer said that ‘you could see his X-factor’ against the La Liga side and highlighted his ability to run in behind teams and cause them problems.

It is likely that James will be handed another start in the second-leg next week after tonight’s performance and Solskjaer will be afforded to chance to rest several key first-team players at Old Trafford.
