The only criticism of Manchester United against Real Sociedad in Turin is that they didn’t score more.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side effectively ended this round-of-32 Europa League tie by netting four away goals against their La Liga opponents.
Here are our player ratings:
Dean Henderson
Important early save at near post allowed United to grow after they were unnerved early on. Launched counter-attack for United’s third and commanded his box. 8
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Perhaps could have been rested this evening but predictably solid defensively despite booking. 7
Harry Maguire
Improved after shaky opening and made great block. Still looks more comfortable with Bailly alongside him. 7
Eric Bailly
Calamitous start but two errors in first five minutes not punished. The Ivorian grew in confidence and may have done enough to start against Newcastle on Sunday. 7
Alex Telles
Dealt relatively well with Adnan Januzaj who would have been desperate to impress. 7
Scott McTominay
Another performance which highlighted his growing importance. Given license to drive forward and efficient with his work. 8
Fred
Superb diligence in defence matched by progressive use of possession. Through ball for Rashford’s goal was glorious. 8
Bruno Fernandes
20th and 21st goals of the season taken clinically. He seldom fails to deliver and his incredible goal record continues. 9
Daniel James
Danger on the counter-attack and exploited opposition’s defensive woes. Surprise start and delivered with superb finish. 7
Mason Greenwood
Great cover work evinced maturity and desire as he denied Monreal’s clear opening. Performance deserving of a goal. 8
Marcus Rashford
Profligate finishing in first-half but movement great and created both of Fernandes’ goals. Finally got his goal after Fred’s marvellous pass. 7
Substitutes
Nemanja Matic
Allowed McTominay a rest and was untroubled. 6
Anthony Martial
Rested and didn’t get chance to replicate his fellow attackers’ brilliance. 6
Juan Mata
First appearance in a long time as United had total control. 6
Amad
Promising on the left but United’s dominance means he should start second-leg. 6

This is the team we would like to be always otherwise good perfomance
Bruno 2 goals and 10+ bad passes or lost balls, and you can still be top of the rating
