Manchester United broke their club record for most away league games unbeaten in their goalless draw against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were frustrated by a resilient Arsenal side in North London but completed another away fixture without defeat.

The draw means United are now unbeaten in 18 away games in the league, breaking the previous record set when Solskjaer was leading the line in the 1999 Treble winning season.

United missed the chance to close in on Manchester City who defeated Sheffield United 1-0 earlier at the Etihad.

Despite the impressive record being broken, it ends a disappointing week for the Reds in their improbable Premier League title challenge after losing to the Blades on Wednesday.

Edinson Cavani came closest to scoring United’s winner as his hooked volley went agonisingly close two minutes from time.

United have now won 27 points away from home in the league this season, with eight wins and three draws.

The Reds now have two home games coming up in the league against Southampton and Everton as they look to re-establish themselves in the title race.
