Sir Alex Ferguson breaks silence on Liverpool’s recent domination

Former Manchester United manager and legend Sir Alex Ferguson has weighed-in on the hype surrounding arch-rival Liverpool’s domination over the last two-seasons.

Ferguson, now retired, called time on his managerial career after lifting his 13th league title at the end of the 2012-13 season.

The legendary Scottish gaffer will always be remembered as the greatest manager of all-time with his achievements unlikely to ever be bettered.

The 79-year-old great held the Old Trafford fort from 1986 – 2013 during a 27-year spell which saw him lift a whopping 38-major trophies, including two Champions League.

Now plying his trade in a more relaxed fashion as he sits on the United board, Ferguson is forced to watch on as current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to reignite the Red Devils’ winning ambitions.

United currently sit top of the Premier League table, the first time they have found themselves in that position since New Years Day, 2013.

Not only are the Red Devils top of the pile, they’re three-points clear of defending champions and arch-rivals Liverpool.

However, that could all change come Sunday when the two giants are set to collide at Anfield.

Speaking ahead of the weekend’s mouth-watering match-up, Ferguson has broken his silence on Liverpool’s recent dominating form which has seen Jurgen Klopp guide his side to the Champions League and Premier League.

“United against Liverpool is the game of the season – the most successful sides in the country,” Ferguson said, as quoted by Independent reporter Melissa Reddy. “I had to build a club not just a team to surpass them.

“Thank goodness I’ve retired, because when I see Liverpool’s performances over the last two seasons – phenomenal”
