Mark Clattenburg’s comments on Jurgen Klopp this week touched a nerve.

Unlike Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who remained calm during his press conference ahead of Sunday’s mega-clash between Liverpool and Manchester, Jurgen Klopp had any outburst by firing back at the former Premier League referee.

While it’s difficult to know exactly what Klopp was getting at — it just sounds like he’s running his mouth again.

“When people like Mark Clattenburg speak it says much more about them than it says about me,” Klopp began, as per ESPN. “I have no skills for playing mind games.

“I 100% never mention something like [trying to win penalties]. It has never happened. Am I surprised someone is talking about what I have said? Clattenburg? No. It’s nice we can talk about him. I am not Sir Alex for different reasons.”

Read Mark Clattenburg’s column on Klopp via the Daily Mail and make your own mind up…

You won’t agree with everything the former Premier League ref says, but the angle of his column looks at Klopp’s comments and points at how he remained cryptic enough to avoid any action from the Football Association!

Klopp completely misses the point and he doesn’t like how Clattenburg dismissed that there’s a conspiracy when it comes to Premier League officials and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United.

And all this does is pile more pressure on Paul Tierney has his officials on Sunday.

On the only positive I can see and feel from this is the building hate between these two clubs.

Oh… how sweet a win would feel on Sunday.
