Solskjaer confirms three players missed FA Cup clash v Watford with injury

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named three key stars who missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Watford due to injury.

The manager made a number of changes to his starting XI versus the Hornets — but it appears not all were made by choice, like it seemed at the start of the match.

Eric Bailly also added to United’s injury problems after picking up a knock but the defender was keen to tell supporters it was only a knock at full-time.

However, Solskjaer was asked by Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst about the absences of Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw. A subtle response from the manager confirmed all three were “injured”.

Hopefully all three will be back to face Burnley on Tuesday because that game will see United get a chance to go top of the Premier League — before taking on Liverpool at Anfield.

Donny van de Beek impressed in Pogba’s absence and it was tipped by the manager before the game that the Netherlands’ international would start the cup fixture.

Meanwhile, Alex Telles played well on the night and assisted Scott McTominay for the game’s only goal, but Solskjaer will want Shaw back for the big one in Merseyside.

That leaves us with Lindelof – and last night showed Axel Tuanzebe can stand in, not just Bailly.
