Douglas Luiz takes to Twitter to fume at Pogba penalty decision

Douglas Luiz has hit out at the decision to award Manchester United a penalty in their 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Friday night.

The Aston Villa midfielder was all over Paul Pogba and referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot, which was deemed fine after VAR investigation, allowing Bruno Fernandes to convert the winning goal.

Luiz took to Twitter after the game to criticise the officials, tweeting: “I see this video, I can’t believe it was a penalty. I always support fairer football, with fewer mistakes, but then I stop and see these types of moves.

“If we have VAR to help, LET’S start using it CORRECTLY, these mistakes can define the future of clubs!”

Dean Smith was pretty vocal about the incident after the match, and so was Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, formerly of Arsenal.

The win saw United go level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, and both teams meet on January 17th. Liverpool will be favourites to defend the title but that is a day United could really make a stamp.
