Scott McTominay’s inspired showing against Leeds marked his 100th appearance for Manchester United.
The Scottish midfielder arguably saved his best performance to date for the landmark occasion, overwhelming Marcelo Bielsa’s side from the first whistle with intensity and drive.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was criticised before kick-off for the inclusion of McTominay in the midfield axis with Fred, but the pair reemphasised their importance with stellar efforts.
And not only did McTominay become the 200th United player to reach 100 appearances for the club, a huge achievement for the academy graduate, he also etched his name into the Premier League history books.
He is the first player in Premier League history to score two goals in the opening three minutes of a match.
What cannot be underestimated is the difficulty level of McTominay’s instant double. He took his two goals supremely well and proved he can be effective in both boxes under Solskjaer.
