Former Manchester United midfielder has doubts over Pogba’s value in the transfer market

Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has doubts over whether the club will get the money back they paid for Paul Pogba in 2016.

Pogba’s agent has been running his mouth to the media about his client’s wishes to leave Old Trafford, so it seems inevitable tat he will be sold in 2021.

The French said “the time is right to go back to Old Trafford” after completing his then world-record £89m transfer to United, as per BBC Sport. And four years prior to that he left the Red Devils for Juventus for £1.5m.

Ultimately, Pogba’s return to United has not gone as planned. He arrived with Zlatan Ibrahimovic following the appointment of Jose Mourinho. Most believed this was a turn in the right direction by the club, but it was short-lived.

While Zlatan did wonders on the pitch in a United shirt, Pogba showed glimpses but has never been consistent enough.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, Chadwick gave his thoughts on potential incomings and outgoings at United in January:

“I still think a centre half needs to be added,” Chadwick said. “I’m not sure who’s out there or who’s available. The back four was really good on Saturday but a bit of competition in central defence would be really good for the team.

“In terms of getting anyone out… Van de Beek’s not had much game time, you’d like to see him get more game time on the pitch.

“In terms of the Pogba incident it seems like his agent would be more than happy to get him out in January, but I can’t see anyone paying upward of £100m for him at the moment because the performances haven’t really been there to merit that.”

Does anyone truly think United will get their money back for Pogba? That’s proof in the pudding — if he needs it — that he hasn’t been good enough in a Red shirt.

How about using whatever money we get from selling Pogba to sign a new centre back?
