Manchester United considering short-term alternative to Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are said to be interested in a loan deal for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

That’s according to ESPN as journalist Rob Dawson adds little progress has been made in the club’s attempts to sign Jadon Sancho.

We brought you an update on Sancho’s future last night after it was reported in Germany that United had a £90m bid rejected by Borussia Dortmund, saying no bid has been made but talks are ongoing with the player’s potential suitors unwilling to overpay for his signature.

With a gap in valuations existing, United may look to a short-term deal for Dembele — who joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 — to make up for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not getting the winger he asked for this summer.

However, the report adds United are yet to make formal contact with Barcelona over Dembele but the La Liga giants are said to be keen to raise money to fund a bid for Lyon’s Memphis Depay.

The former United forward has been heavily linked with a switch to Camp Nou since Ronald Koeman became manager.

Other wingers named as potential Sancho alternatives include Juventus’ Douglas Costa, Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.

Phil Brown, host of the Beyond The Pitch podcast, claims United have held discussions with Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic and Edinson Cavani. He reiterates claims about a potential Dembele loan deal.
