Manchester United make second bid for FC Porto’s Alex Telles, claims journalist

It sounds like there could be some promising news for Manchester United fans soon.

In relation to FC Porto left-back Alex Telles, RMC reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi claims a second offer has been made by the 20 times champions of England.

Bouhafsi backs up his claim with the belief Telles has already given his agreement to join United.

It remains to be seen what this could mean for Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams, but our defence could do with more experience and there will be plenty of games to play this season. You need depth in every department to win league titles but we are some way off that yet.

No figures were mentioned in Bouhafsi’s tweet but the player’s contract expires next year, so it looks like United will be getting the player in a cut price deal.

Telles could become the second player to move to Old Trafford from Portugal this year following on from Bruno Fernandes’ transfer from Sporting Lisbon in January.

A report from the Guardian (H/t Jamie Jackson) yesterday claimed Porto value the Brazilian full-back at £18m — and are considering a formal bid for Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho.

Those would be two very good deals in the final week of the transfer window, but did it really have to take all summer? There’s still a lot of work to be done.

More updates when we have them!
