Man United hold informal talks over Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik

Manchester United are one of four sides to have held talks over a transfer for striker Arkadiusz Milik.

When fit he’s a consistent goalscorer, scoring at a rate better than one in two for Ajax and averaging a goal every 135 minutes for Napoli.

Of course, having suffered two cruciate ligament injuries during his time at Napoli, United should be wary of signing an injury prone player.

The Poland international can operate as a classic number nine — standing at 6’1” — and is no pushover in the air. It goes without saying that he would be an upgrade on Odion Ighalo, so Milik push Anthony Martial closer which can only be a good thing.

It is that time of the window again.

Milik’s name is being thrown around to a number of clubs and there is nothing from the report to suggest United are actively pursuing him, or any other player for that matter…

He scored 11 Serie A goals last season, as per WhoScored.

Ciro Venerato — “a well-known expert for Rai Sport,” as per 90min — says the player’s representatives have discussed a possible exit from Napoli with a range of clubs this summer.

“As for Milik, the intermediary told me that there’s informal talks with Leipzig, Manchester City, Manchester United, Fulham and Tottenham,” he told MundoNapoli. “The latter are the most reliable track, but the formula requested by Napoli does not convince Mourinho.”

One minute I’m hoping for signings, the next I’m wishing the transfer window was shut.
