Donny van de Beek makes Manchester United trophy promise

When you leave Ajax at 23 after coming through their world renowned academy, you do so hoping to join a bigger club and climbing the European football pyramid.

Donny van de Beek has done that and is currently Manchester United’s only signing this summer.

He joins a United side that failed to win a trophy last season — but reached three cup semi-finals and finished third in the Premier League.

Fans want to see Solskjaer and his players build on that this season, but we have been slapped in the face by reality, having greedy owners who are happy to use COVID-19 as an excuse for not strengthening the team.

While we can sound pessimistic about the season ahead of us, Van de Beek has just joined the club and is probably naive to a lot of our complaints.

The Netherlands International has made a trophy promise to Manchester United fans, telling United Review that the team will fight on all fronts.

“I always trust in myself and for sure you can always improve and be better and I will always work hard to make those steps and now I will continue to do that,” Van de Beek said.

“I have made a good step from Ajax to United and now I want more and more and I want to help the club win prizes.

“We will fight for everything.”

This is exactly what you want to hear from your new signing, but I hate to say it looks like he will be disappointed this season.

Up next for United is a trip to Brighton where Van de Beek will be hoping to make his third appearance for the club.

  1. What is wrong with the Man Utd board, £108 is too expensive for Sancho our ” priority” £18.3 is too expensive for Telles shame. If Manchester United is bankrupt just tell us instead of annoying those of us who were there since 1960. If you have failed to run the club resign.
