More reports suggest that Man United are not considering summer swoop for former Borussia Dortmund winger

Manchester United are reportedly opting against a summer transfer swoop for FC Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.

United appear to be running out of time in their lengthy pursuit of number-one summer transfer target Jadon Sancho with Borussia Dortmund seemingly maintaining their firm stance that the 20-year-old will not be sold, as per Sky Sports.

It was reported earlier this summer on Transfer Window Podcast (as quoted by Manchester Evening News) that United were interested in bringing Dembele to Old Trafford in a possible loan deal.

Dembele, 23, joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in a move which cost the Catalonian giants an eye-watering £124.2m, as per TransferMarkt.

After a simply stunning final season with Dortmund which saw him be directly involved in 31 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions the young Frenchman has since struggled with a string of injuries which has hampered his Barcelona career.

Dembele has only managed to average 25 appearances in all competitions per season in the last three campaigns for his La Liga side, an alarming stat which could be the main motivator behind United’s reluctance to target the winger.

Despite these earlier claims that United are eyeing a summer for Dembele there have been recent conflicting reports surrounding United’s stance on bringing the former Dortmund winger to Old Trafford.

However, contrary to suggestions that Dembele could make the switch from La Liga to Premier League, The Mirror have recently reported that United officials have ruled out a move of any kind for Dembele signalling the end of all speculation.

Well, that’s that then.
