Loads of Man United fans react to disappointing news rivals are set to sign one of world’s best midfielders

It’s not much fun being a fan of Manchester United at the moment after being forced to watch almost every other side put their hands in their pockets and strengthen all required areas of their squad. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look set to change anytime soon with the latest crushing blow coming earlier today after leading journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara was on his way to join-up with rivals Liverpool.

Thiago, 29, has looked likely to leave the 2019-20 Champions League winners all summer after a series of strange comments from Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge suggested the midfielder wanted to leave Germany, as per Welt am Sonntag via The Mirror.

Both Liverpool and United emerged as the front-runners to land the world-class midfielder however, despite United’s heavy links to the Spaniard, it has all but been confirmed that Thiago is on his way to link-up with Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.

Leading journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed Thiago has agreed personal terms and will sign a deal with Liverpool until the summer of 2024 in a stunning move which will see the Merseyside pay just €30m plus add-ons.

The recent news that arch-rivals Liverpool have beaten United to Thiago comes at a time when emotions among United fans are running high. The United faithful came into this summer’s transfer window with excitement after believing the club’s hierarchy would financially back manager Solskjaer in an attempt to push on and better their 2019-20 third place Premier League finish, however, despite earlier positivity, the lack of transfer activity has left fans feeling angry and disappointed.

The latest news on Thiago adds insult to injury after it was also confirmed earlier today that Real Madrid’s highly-rated left-back Sergio Reguilon will be joining Tottenham Hotspur instead of United.

In addition to two United targets opting against a move to Old Trafford and instead joining the club’s domestic rivals, number-one transfer target Jadon Sancho looks no closer to becoming a United player now than he did three months ago.

Given the current news, pockets of fans have taken to social media to express their frustration.

Can you blame them?

  1. This team is finished. Who is inflating this pain on this team. Pls forgive us. United lack vision, knowledge. Our match kicks off in the next 48hrs. Still we don’t have a strong team and bench. The end is coming soon for united… Be prepared for the worst this season my fellow fans
