David De Gea has sent some Manchester United supporters into inevitable meltdown with a photo with reported club target Sergio Reguilon on international duty.

De Gea was man-of-the-match as he made several excellent saves in Spain’s 1-1 draw against Germany in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday evening.

Reguilon, meanwhile, was an unused substitute after being named in his nation’s match day squad for the first time.

The left-back could make his debut in Spain’s second Nations League game against Ukraine on Sunday.

De Gea’s photo with Reguilon posted on Instagram during international duty comes amid mounting speculation over United’s interest in the defender.

Spanish publication Sport reported on Thursday that United have tabled a €30m offer for Reguilon, who impressed on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid in the 2019/20 season.

The Spaniard provided the assist for Sevilla’s equaliser against United during the Europa League semi-finals and his performance attracted praise from plenty of supporters as the Reds crashed out.

Reguilon is behind Marcelo and Ferland Mendy in Zinedine Zidane’s left-back pecking order at the Bernabeu and there is every chance he could be looking for a new club this summer after returning to the Spanish capital.

A left-back should not be the priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but Reguilon could be an astute signing and would provide extra competition for Luke Shaw ahead of the new season.
