Journalist provides update on United’s transfer activity: Upamecano delay, still hope for Sancho

Although the lack of done deals at this point is probably infuriating some Manchester United fans, even those happy with Donny van de Beek’s arrival, but there’s certainly no shortage of transfer speculation.

We do our best to filter the news and state whether the source in question is reliable and Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones has certainly got bits right in the past.

According to Jones, as seen in the tweet below, United have looked at Upamecano but a deal is more likely next some for ‘various reasons’. He expects the Red Devils to go back in for the French centre-back in 2021 ‘with more intent’.

This is a bit of a blow to the excitement I had when reading ESPN’s initial report stating that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had identified Upamecano is the ideal partner for Harry Maguire. I wonder if the manager has someone else in the pipeline, or if he will wait a year until the club can get the player at a more affordable price?

Fans would obviously prefer to see him back this summer and advance with his build of a team.

In another tweet Jones says talks are still taking place over Sancho’s potential switch to Old Trafford, albeit in a private manner rather than leaking stuff to the press.
