Manchester United fans were happy with Anthony Martial’s man of the match display against FC Copenhagen in Cologne last night.
The two teams faced off in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, with United progressing to the semi-finals after a 1-0 win after extra-time.
United won thanks to a penalty scored by Bruno Fernandes but it was Martial who was fouled inside the box. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer joked but rightly said after the match that the Portugal international is a better penalty taker than he was!
It’s been the Frenchman’s best season at United — in all competitions — and he’s certainly looking more like a centre forward than ever before.

If you still don’t rate Anthony Martial in 2020, there’s seriously something wrong with you 🤔

Don’t care what anyone says I wouldn’t have any striker in the Prem over Martial

Plenty of plaudits for Anthony Martial’s running and individual brilliance tonight, but him working his backside off to get back to defend in the 105th minute to cover Marcus Rashford who was struggling to get back shows how far he’s come. He’s a proper player. Love him.

After seeing his improvements this season, the aim for next term must be to go the entire campaign injury free. Then I can see Martial break into the 30 goal mark because he should already be considered one of the best strikers in England.
He has managed 23 goals across all competitions this season and is building a formidable partnership with Marcus Rashford, who has also improved in terms of being more clinical in front of goal.
United don’t need a new centre-forward as much as we thought midway through the season.
