Four Manchester United stars nominated for Premier League Young Player of the Season

The nominees for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year award have been named and it is unsurprising to see the list dominated by Manchester United stars.

United’s resurgence this season has been built on the goalscoring exploits of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood and each member of the dangerous attacking trident has been nominated.

The trio scored a combined 44 goals in the league this term, despite each player missing a chunk of the season through injury or not being selected.

Rashford was talismanic for United before his long-term injury setback in January and Martial has proven why he’s got what it takes to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s number nine with ruthless finishing and improved interplay.

Greenwood, meanwhile, has had an extraordinary breakthrough season and is arguably the Premier League’s most exciting talent at the moment.

The 18-year-old’s supreme natural finishing ability can be matched by very few forwards in the division.

Elsewhere, on-loan goalkeeper Dean Henderson is deservedly nominated after an outstanding first season in the top flight with Sheffield United.

Henderson, 23, kept 13 sheets in 36 appearances for the Blades, helping Chris Wilder’s men to an unlikely eighth placed finish.

It’s still unclear where Henderson’s future lies next season but United can’t afford to let such a talented ‘keeper be sold as he has the potential to be the future number one at Old Trafford.

Others nominees for the award are Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount, Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish and Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
