Man United open talks for Monaco starlet ahead of proposed £27m move, says journalist

Manchester United are reportedly preparing for a transfer war against German outfit Bayer Leverkusen for AS Monaco’s highly-rated 19-year-old Benoit Badiashile.

The young centre-back has flourished in France’s top-flight this campaign after starting 20 matches for current side AS Monaco.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly in the market for a centre-back this summer with reported targets including Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes and Villarreal’s Pau Torres, according to Sky Sports News and The Sun.

However, according to recent reports from leading French journalist Julien Maynard, one player who the Reds are set to open talks with is AS Monaco’s Badiashile in a move rumoured to be worth £27m.

Maynard’s claims suggest that German outfit Bayer Leverkusen are currently in negotiations with the teenager but admit they could face competition from Solskjaer’s United as they look to complete a deal.

A third club also said to be interested in Bediashile are Spanish giants Real Madrid.

With strong suggestions that three top European footballing sides could be battling it out for one of France’s hottest prospects, following this transfer saga as it develops will be very interesting.
