Manchester United ex-youth player Angel Gomes is a reported target for Ligue 1 side Lille, with claims suggesting that the French side’s club directors are ‘doing everything’ they can to convince the 19 year old to join them.

It was confirmed earlier this month that Gomes left the United academy after failing to sign a new contract as per ManUtd.com.

It is widely considered that Gomes grew tired of the lack of first-team opportunities offered to him at United which was the driving force behind his decision to leave the club.

Gomes’ first-team playing time was limited after he failed to impress in the rare opportunities he was given under current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Despite being heavily linked with Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, the Blues have yet to land the young midfielder who is still a free agent and believed to be considering his options.

One side who are reportedly leading the race to secure the youngster’s signature is Ligue 1 side Lille.

According to La Voix du Nord, as translated by Sports Witness, Lille Technical Director Luis Campos is ‘doing everything’ he can to try and pursude Gomes to pick the French outfit as his next permanent club.
