Manchester United are without key man Luke Shaw for their Premier League finale against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Shaw has missed United’s last three games after rolling his ankle in last Monday’s gut-wrenching 2-2 draw against Southampton at Old Trafford.
But there had been a hope in the build-up to this winner-takes-all clash that Shaw would return with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reporting no fresh injury concerns in his pre-match press conference.
Shaw has been instrumental in United’s resurgence into a favourable position in the race for the Champions League spots and it’s a great shame he won’t have the chance to help get the job done this afternoon.
The 25-year-old has been near flawless defensively in recent weeks and has formed a good understanding with Marcus Rashford on the left-hand side of attack.
Instead, youth product Brandon Williams is again given the chance to shine after being handed a third consecutive start at left-back.
Williams struggled in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea but improved against West Ham and Solskjaer will be hoping for an accomplished performance from the teenager in what is the biggest game of his fledgling career.
Some United fans are concerned that Shaw is absent for this crucial Champions League showdown.
No Luke Shaw ☹️ …. Brandon Williams is going to have to play out of his skin

I’m even more nervous with having no Luke Shaw. Brandon is good but he hasn’t got the physicality like Luke

Loss of Luke Shaw in final games has already been costing us. Hope Williams prove himself at the most important game of the season for United #LEIMUN
