Ex-Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans saw red after an awful challenge on midfielder Scott McTominay in today’s crucial tie against Leicester.
The Northern Irish defender went piling into the Scot in a challenge which was never going to escape punishment.
Despite already being on a yellow card after conceding a first-half penalty, referee Martin Atkinson was left with no choice but to show the Leicester defender a straight red card.
Evans’ dismissal piled the misery on the Foxes’ misery after goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard sealed their Europa League fate next season.
You can see Evan’s late second-half challenge below. Not pretty.
