Manchester United are set to face-off against Southampton in a little under an hour in what has turned out to be arguably United’s most important so far this season.
United saw direct top-four rivals Chelsea and Leicester City both drop points this weekend. The Reds are now looking to grab the opportunity presented to them with both hands with a win rocketing them up to third place in the table.
Despite not needing the added pressure ahead of tonight’s game, Manchester City’s overturned UEFA ban verdict earlier today has added extra importance to tonight’s game against The Saints. Absolutely nothing less than a win will suffice.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer know this. He must be aware of how desperate United fans are to see their side secure Champions League football next season.
Perhaps this added pressure has forced Solskjaer’s hand into naming an unchanged side tonight for what is set to be the fifth consecutive time which also sees a 27 year long club record broken.
