Angel Gomes attracting interest from European clubs ahead of Man Utd exit

A number of leading European clubs are chasing Angel Gomes, after it was revealed he is set to leave Manchester United upon the expiry of his contract.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all but confirmed in Monday morning’s press conference that the 19-year-old is heading for the Old Trafford exit door after the club failed to agree a new deal to secure his long-term future.

“To be honest, I’ve not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven’t managed to agree so the answer is probably short and yes, then,” Solskjaer said when asked whether Gomes will leave, as quoted by the MEN.

Gomes has been left frustrated by a lack of first-team game time under the Norwegian this season, making just three starts, all of which have come in the Europa League group stages.

However, although the diminutive playmaker has not yet shone on the big stage, he is not short of admirers as we await his decision on his next club.

As reported by the Independent, Gomes is attracting interest across Europe’s top major leagues.

Chelsea are said to have offered better terms than United for the youngster, but his representatives have also been contacted by the likes of Hamburg, Benfica and Valencia.

Gomes may feel a move abroad would allow him the opportunity to get some regular first-team game time while still competing at a high level.

But a move to Stamford Bridge to join Frank Lampard’s exciting young Chelsea side could also be an attractive proposition. Lampard has proven he is ready to give chances to young players with Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James and Fikayo Tomori all excelling under his stewardship this season.
