Manchester United close to finalising Angel Gomes contract

Manchester United are reportedly close to agreeing a renewed contract for hot prospect Angel Gomes manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer confirms.

According to Evening Standard, Solskjaer has confirmed the news that the club are on the brink of successfully renewing 19-year old Angel Gomes’ contract.

It is believed that one of Gomes’ biggest admirers is Head of First Team Development and club legend Nicky Butt who will undoubtedly welcome a contract extension for the home-grown talent.

Gomes’ contract is set to expire at the end of this month which would allow him to leave the club on a free. Premier League rivals Chelsea had reportedly shown an interest in securing the youngster, as reported by The Mirror.

However, United look set to tie the highly rated youth star down on a new, long-term deal which is thought to bag the teenager a whopping £30,000 a week.

United boss Solskjaer has said: “He’s a top kid who we’ve had at the club for so many years. We’ve offered him a deal and hopefully he’ll take that and if not I wish him all the best.

“From what I understand it’s not too far away – but if not we’ll wish him all the best.”
