Exclusive: No Manchester United approach for Argentinian wonderkid

Manchester United are one of a whole host of top European clubs heavily linked with Argentinian wonderkid Thiago Almada.

It is understood that as well as Manchester United, the 19-year-old midfielder is also being tracked by some European footballing heavyweights, which include the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and both Milan clubs.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, in an attempt to get ahead in the race to sign Almada, who has been dubbed ‘The Next Messi’, United have already opened negotiations with Superliga club, Velez Sarsfield.

However, Stretty News have obtained information from sources close to Velez Sarsfield who have rejected that claim.

A source said: “He’s been in the interest of those clubs, nothing concrete besides that, just the interest.”

Stretty News have also been given information from the same source that Almada’s release clause stands at £22.3m.

Almada has started 10 domestic games for Velez Sarsfield this season, scoring four times, before the Argentinian football season was officially cancelled in April, as per ESPN.

A report from Reuters claims the country of Argentina has seen its quarantine period extended until at least May 10, therefore, with the Argentinian population’s movements heavily restricted, conducting deals is going to be tougher than ever.
