Putting the non-stop speculation aside, Jesse Lingard has dropped a hint his future still lies at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United midfielder has been linked with a move elsewhere this summer.

Lingard doesn’t start if everyone’s fit and he has now fallen further down the pecking order following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in January. To add to that, the return of fitness of Paul Pogba will make it even harder for the England international to get a game.

He must improve!

The 27-year-old doesn’t seem to have intentions of leaving United, and plans to win silverware with the Red Devils next season?

Lingard was asked about his immediate aims and he told Adidas Home Team’s The Huddle: “Obviously to finish the season.

“You know I wanted to go back in fitter, sharper than last season to play every game. I’ve kind of forgot about last season, we move forward and even though the season’s not finished, I feel like it’s another little fresh start.

“Finishing a season, it feels like a mini-season for me, so to go back in, like I say, flying from the get-go, in which I feel good and then, obviously, for next season to just carry on.

“I have the right attitude, I have the right desire, I have the right hunger to win games to play for United to obviously win trophies which is one of the most things.”

Hopefully we can win a trophy when the 2019/20 season resumes next month. United are still in contention for the FA Cup and Europa League — as well as a top four finish.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for Lingard, including: Leicester City, Newcastle United, West Ham and Everton.

The Reds have an option to extend his current deal (expiring in 2021) by a further year if they wish.
