Manchester United are believed to have joined the race to sign Wolves star Adama Traore.
United’s summer business was widely thought to see a number of big money signings arrive at Old Trafford, but there’s now lots of doubt following a financial crisis along with the coronavirus pandemic — and Wolves are reportedly demanding crazy money for the player.
Back in March, Duncan Castles told The Transfer Podcast that Wolves owners Fosun are looking for as much as €100m for Traore, as reported by Transfermarkt.
The Spanish winger has been a stand out performer this season — scoring six goals and registering 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. If the Premier League season resumes, Traore’s side are in with a chance of top four, currently placed 6th in the standings and five points adrift of Chelsea in fourth with 11 games to play.
Apparently Wolves are expecting to receive offers for the 24-year-old on the back of his form this term and it is being reported that a number of top European clubs are interested in launching a pursuit for the attacker.
According to French outlet Le 10 Sport, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are the most interested clubs — but Bayern Munich are also touted as a possible destination for Traore.
He has also been linked with a move back to Barcelona — as well as fierce rivals Real Madrid.
Traore admitted earlier this year that he’d have no problem playing for Los Blancos despite previously being at Barca.
“It wouldn’t be a problem for me [if Madrid called], I don’t close my door to anything,” the Wolves star told La Vanguardia. “Right now I am very happy where I am, the team and the people are fantastic.
“Being in Europe is a new stage for us and the physiotherapists work incredibly hard on ensuring our recovery [between games]. Offers from Madrid or Barca will come when they come, but my mentality is to continue growing as a player.”
I can’t help but laugh at the idea Wolves think their star warrants the same sort of transfer fee as Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, who at 20-years-old has a much higher ceiling than Traore.
