Manchester United reveal welcome plans to improve Old Trafford atmosphere

Manchester United have made an encouraging move in the bid to improve the Old Trafford atmosphere.

The club have made 1,000 youth season tickets available in the Red Army section on the right hand side of the Stretford End near the tunnel.

Red Army are an independent group of supporters with season tickets that are aiming to generate more noise within the stadium and the club are helping facilitate their plans.

Supporters aged 16-25 will pay just £285 for season tickets in the section with the focus around making football more affordable and bringing through the next generation to watch live football.

The muted atmosphere at Old Trafford has long been criticised but efforts are clearly being made to restore the historic stadium as one of the louder grounds in England.

“I want to place on record our appreciation of the hard work and dedication from the organisers of the atmosphere section,” United Group Managing Director Richard Arnold said, as quoted by the Mirror.

“The phenomenal support the team gets has been taken to a new level by this successful initiative.

“We will be seeking to build on this next season by extending this section of the Stretford End out towards the south-west corner, increasing the allocation to at least 2,000 supporters.”

As reported by the Mirror, the club are also looking into the idea of safe standing in the form of rail seating which aims to improve the matchday experience for fans.

Tottenham have implemented the rail seats into their new state-of-the-art stadium and this would be another positive step United can take in achieving a better atmosphere.
